Sailing in Corfu island

Like all islands in the Ioanian sea Corfu is an island with lots of trees and beautiful beaches. Corfu (or Kerkira in Greek) is located just 1 NM from the Greek prefecture of Epirus and is one of the most important yacht charter bases in Greece for most yacht charter companies. Near Corfu you will find paxous and antipaxous. 2 lovely islands with ideal diving grounds and beautiful lonely beaches. The name of the island has probably derived from the Greek word "Koryphi" that means "peaks" in English.

The old harbour of Corfu provides the best shelter for the NW winds. There is a Corfu yacht club too but its for members only while Naok yacht club is sometimes open for non members.

A famous area in Corfu is Palaiokastritsa located on the east side of the island, it attracts more and more tourists every year. There you can find lots of caves that can be reached by tender or RIB.

Nowdays Corfu / Kerkira is consider a well developed island with a lot of tourists , intensive nightlife beautiful landscapes and some of the best beaches of Europe.

Sailing in Lefkas island

Sailing in Lefkas is a lifetime experience. The island is one of the most beautiful ones in Greece and it is located in the middle of the Ioanian complex just a few meters from the mainland. It is a hilly island with lots of awarded beaches and landscapes. The architecture has been influenced by the occupation of the Italians after they took the island from the Turks in 1684.

Unfortunatelly due to earthquakes and a lot of combats there are only few old buildings. The lefkas canal is used by sailors to pass along to the east side of the island, which has the most good anchorages.From the north side the entrance is from the Santa Mauro Fort. A good shelter for your sailing yacht is the small harbour at Spartakhori, though you will have to anchor in considerable depths (15-25m).

Other ports of the island is the port of Vassiliki located in the south-east of the island that has a bay close to the pondi village, the Vlikho bay that is protected by land and is a safe place to anchor anytime and the Sivota bay that sometimes is difficult to reach.
